The word somatic is defined as: “…of or relating to the physical body“. Somatic movement is any body-centered practice that invites an intentional engagement with your body, breath and consciousness in a contemplative way. Somatic movement is also sometimes called “conscious movement”. Practices that ignite and fortify the mind-body connection are a kind of meditation in and of themselves. They are a moving meditation, and we believe that movement is medicine.
Through our RestQ Mission Yoga program, we lead and promote movement of the body in many ways to support the well-being of our community at large. Our group practice offerings include nature and fitness walking, yoga, meditation, dance fitness, and strength training (using bodyweight, HIIT and plyometrics). We move in a wide variety of expressions for all levels of practitioner.
